This is the project I started in 2015. I travelled to Tokyo, made my way across the island and caught a small ferry to an isolated island in the Sea of Japan. My plan was to meet and create a photo-documentary with the Ama-san, women who following a 2,000 years tradition, free-dive for shell-fish and algae as a job.
